Salary: $47,000 – $52,000
Description
The Manager of Exhibitions coordinates exhibition planning and production, including exhibition display and layout, production of signage, and organization of publications and ancillary program projects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for the Manager of Exhibitions include, but are not limited to:
- Conceive and produce visually engaging, state-of-the-art, and ADA-accessible exhibition installations.
- Draft layouts and display concepts.
- Oversee design and production of exhibition display elements and signage (analogue and digital).
- Work closely with Registrar to coordinate loans and shipping of art works.
- Manage exhibitions budget and provide information for grant applications.
- Manage art handlers and installation crew, including schedules, outlining responsibilities, and safety protocols.
- Provide research support for exhibition development.
- Participate in exhibition-aligned programming, including tours and artist talks.
Reporting
The Manager of Exhibitions works closely and cooperatively with other staff and reports directly to the Chief Curator.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Demonstrate fluency with Adobe Creative Suite, Vector, SketchUp. or other 3-D imaging software, and other design platforms.
- Demonstrate strong spatial design abilities.
- Must be a self-starter able to work independently but on-task.
- Must be efficient, organized, collaborative, professional, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be familiar with the rhythms and responsibilities of working in an art museum with an understanding of outreach and visitor engagement.
- Possess excellent communication and organization skills, with ability to perform as an enthusiastic and professional ambassador for the Museum.
- Demonstrated ability to respond to challenges with creative and compelling solutions.
