Full-time, 12-month internship with stipend is offered for recent college graduates interested in pursuing a career in art, art history and/or art curation. The focused departmental training is integrated with monthly activities and a lecture series designed for interns to receive greater exposure to the museum as a whole. The program is complemented with financial provisions for interns to create a research trip related to their fields of interest.

The Drawings & Prints Intern will be a part of a larger cohort of interns from various MoMA departments. Twelve-month internships provide training in specific museum fields through close work with professional staff members, familiarity with modern and contemporary art through seminars and discussions, and an educational program that exposes interns to the workings of the Museum as a whole, while considering the role of museums in the broader cultural context.Duties within the department may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide research, organizational, and/or administrative support to curators of forthcoming Käithe Kollwitz exhibition
  • Work on early modern artists’ books project
  • Contributing to departmental initiatives
  • Performing research
  • Assisting in preparation of gallery presentations and publications
  • Responding to general curatorial inquiries

A Successful Candidate May Posses Some Of The Following

  • BA or MA in art history
  • A demonstrated interest in European prints, drawings and illustrated books
  • A strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
  • German language skills

Required Commitment

This program will run from approximately September 2023 to September 2024. This program requires a full-time commitment (Monday-Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm).

Eligibility

Recent graduates of bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. The Museum encouragescandidates from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines to apply. Internationalcandidates are eligible to apply.

Stipend

$32,933 stipend (gross), subject to applicable tax withholdings. Health benefits, two weeks paidvacation, and an additional $2,000 to cover travel expenses for an approved research triprelated to the intern’s field of interest.
