Summer Data Collector with HG&Co at The National Museum of the American Indian

HG&Co, a nationally-recognized visitor-centered evaluation firm, is hiring data collectors for summer work at the National Museum of the American Indian, at both the DC and NYC sites. Data collectors will interview up to 25 visitors in-person at the Museum, using fully qualitative, in-depth, front-end protocols developed by HG&Co. The audio recordings of these interviews will be computer-transcribed and returned to the data collector, who will then edit the transcribed interview for clarity and corrections. Training and support, both in-person and remote, will be provided throughout the project.

This temporary position pays $25 per hour for 28-50 hours of work. Training will begin in May, and data collection will take place throughout June and July, with the possibility for follow-up work in August. 

To be eligible, candidates need to:

  1. Be able to travel to the Museum for up to 5- or 6-hour shifts between the hours of 10:30 am and 4:30 pm on both weekends and weekdays (dates flexible),

  2. Have regular access to a computer and internet for online training, transcription editing, and communication,

  3. Be able to complete the CITI Human Subjects Research certification within May (or have a current certification), preferably through their university,

  4. Be able to respond to the project manager within 1 business day, and

  5. Be eligible for work via W-9 form restrictions (either a U.S. citizen or a person defined as a “resident alien”). 

Candidates for this position should: 

  1. Have experience interviewing and/or doing qualitative data collection,

  2. Have the flexibility to adjust interview questions and question order based on participants’ responses, 

  3. Have the confidence to recruit strangers for the study, and 

  4. Be ready to think on their feet. 

Experience working on-the-floor at museums is preferred, and native fluency in Spanish, Chinese, French, German, or Portuguese may result in additional translation work, paid at $30 per hour.In responding to this announcement, please describe your qualitative data collection experience and include your resume.
