A full-time Collection Specialist position is available, reporting to the Director of the Collection and the Jennifer Rubio Associate Curator of the Collection. The incumbent will assist with collection-related projects including research, acquisitions, and cataloging, among other tasks. Excellent research and writing skills are essential, as well as a deep knowledge of 20th- and 21st-century art history.Responsibilities:
- Provide support and research for works in the collection as it relates to cataloging, collection displays, outgoing loans, and the website
- Assistance with museum acquisitions including tracking and processing all gifts and purchases to the collection working with Research Resources, Registration, donors and sellers
- Assistance in primary research for new acquisitions
- Works closely with the Director of the Collection on preparation for all acquisition meetings
- Manages information for internal and public facing acquisition announcements working closely with Communications
- Serving as liaison with artists, estates, and galleries
- Overall administrative support
Job requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in 20th- and 21st-century art and art history, with a particular interest in art from the second half of the 20th century
- 1-2 years of gallery, museum or relevant experience
- Excellent organizational skills, including experience with TMS, Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent writing, research, and communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- The capacity to take initiative, work thoughtfully, quickly, thoroughly, and collegially, and respect the day-to-day process
- Some knowledge of exhibition preparation procedures is useful
