Carpenters Workshop Gallery produces and exhibits functional sculptures by international artists and designers working outside their traditional territories of expression. It is an exciting, cutting-edge gallery based in Midtown and we are looking for an efficient, confident, and hardworking intern to join the team for the Fall/Winter.
You will be based in the gallery in Midtown Manhattan and on occasion you may be asked to spend time in our Long Island City based warehouse or work from home
Your main role will be to provide administrative, logistical and organizational support to the team along with possibly handling client-facing situations on a day-to-day basis. There will also be an opportunity to gain experience in the commercial elements of the gallery, assisting the sales associates throughout the sales process and liaising with clients and artists where appropriate.
The gallery customarily participates in many global art fairs each year whilst holding exhibitions in our London, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles galleries.
Responsibilities:
Maintain gallery inventories of books and samples
Mail gifts, samples, and supplies to clients
Assist the sales team and gallery manager in opening and closing the gallery; ensure the space is always presentable according to CWG’s standards
Assist with administrative tasks such as expense reports and client data entry
Create Certificates of Authenticity (COA’s)
General office upkeep such ordering supplies
Generate lists and reports in ArtLogic
Cleaning and maintaining artworks on view
General client service such as greeting clients, answering phone calls, touring visitors when appropriate
Event preparation and execution
Work with global interns on company-wide projects
Other tasks assigned by your manager
The candidate should be available at least 3 days a week for a minimum of 4 months.
Gallery hours Monday through Saturday 9.30-6 pm. Weekends, ad hoc late, and early hours may be required on an as needed basis.
