The Vilcek Foundation is seeking applicants for a Native American Art Fellow to manage and give tours of the upcoming exhibition Grounded in Clay: The Spirit of Pueblo Pottery, and to curate and engage with the Foundation’s collection of Native American Pottery. The exhibition will be on view at the Foundation July 13, 2023-June 5, 2024. Working under the supervision of the President and alongside the Curatorial Consultant, Native American Initiatives, the Curator, and the Registrar and Manager of Collections, Exhibitions and Facilities.

The Vilcek Foundation raises awareness of immigrant contributions in the United States and fosters appreciation of the arts and sciences.
Who We Are
The foundation was established in 2000 by Jan and Marica Vilcek, immigrants from the former Czechoslovakia. Our mission was inspired by the couple’s respective careers in biomedical science and art history, as well as their personal experiences and appreciation for the opportunities offered to them as
newcomers to the United States.
Responsibilities
● Give guided tours of the exhibition to individuals and groups
● Manage requests for exhibition tours, which will be by appointment only and made via email
● Conduct community outreach
● Assist with other departmental needs including preparation for presentations, events, and related tasks
Physical Requirements
This position is a combination of a sedentary and mobile role, with regards to mobility throughout the gallery/exhibition space for guiding tours.
Skills and Requirements
● Knowledge of Native American Art and Culture, from ancient to contemporary
● Knowledge of Native American history and contemporary issues among Native American communities, particularly Pueblo communities
● Passion for Native American Art
● Strong verbal skills and confidence in speaking publicly
● Strong written skills; demonstrated ability to write for general audiences
● Well-organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Microsoft Outlook, and other standard computer programs
● BA (in hand or in process, or four years of relevant experience) in a humanities discipline with a focus on Native America art or history
● International candidates must be in possession of a valid US work visa prior to the start of the position and for the entire duration of the position

Compensation
Annual salary $65,000 to $68,000, commensurate with experience.
