GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Development Officer, this individual serves as an important member of the Campaign and Stewardship team, assisting with leadership gifts, as well as efforts to track, report, and present overall fundraising for the year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Draft acknowledgment letters, as well as proposals, gift agreements, and other correspondence as needed, for Trustees and high-level donors making leadership gifts (>$500,000) to the Museum.
  • Draft and prepare fundraising reports and materials for monthly Board and Executive Committee meetings, including remarks for Trustee Development Committee Chair and Museum Director.
  • Schedule, prepare meeting materials, and assist with follow-up for the Trustee Development Committee, Development Briefings with Museum leadership, and executive Museum leadership meetings.
  • Coordinate and draft overall fundraising narratives for the Museum’s Annual Report and the Institutional Advancement Report.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Chief Development Officer to coordinate recognition efforts as they relate to overall donor giving and top-level donor recognition programs, including administration of the Museum’s Benefactors, Fellows for Life, and The Met Guardians, as well as other forms of recognition, including oversight of the Great Hall donor plaques and Silver Williams.
  • Track named positions in coordination with Counsel’s Office and maintain a master inventory of all existing naming opportunities.
  • Administer Campaign and Stewardship budget in coordination with Deputy Chief Development Officer and other members of the team.
  • Provide administrative support for senior staff.
  • Interface, as required, with curatorial and administrative departments.
  • Maintain and update donor database records.
  • Available to work day and evening events.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Skills:

  • At least three years of experience in development or a related field, ideally in a non-profit context.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with others, as well as independently.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office.
  • Experience with Tessitura or other major development database system preferred.
  • Interest in the arts and a commitment to the Museum’s mission.

Knowledge and Education:

  • B.A. required, art history degree preferred.

Compensation Range:

  • Pay Range: $32.00 – $34.00/hour
