The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City is one of the premier science research and cultural institutions in the country. The AMNH is seeking a Manager of Student Affairs and Fellowships Programs who will manage all the Richard Gilder Graduate School (RGGS) Fellowships and Grants Programs and manage/support all relevant RGGS student affairs, including recruitment, student and alumni services, records and databases, coordination with partner universities or related organizations, and financial administration.

Position Summary

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and assist with RGGS intra-institutional, governmental, accreditation or other applications, and administrative processes.
  • Record-keep and report; manage grant proposal development, accreditation activities, etc.
  • Coordinate events such as commencement, symposia, dissertation defenses, socials, tours, and formal meetings.
  • Develop and coordinate workshops, training, professional development, and other RGGS academic activities.
  • Assist with any other programs and duties as required, determined by the Director of Administration and/or Dean.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent, or a combination of education and experience working with academic administrative processes.
  • At least 3 years experience in managing education or similar programs, including financial management, student services, and academic administration.
  • Must possess strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex administrative processes.
  • Ability to convey information clearly and effectively in speech and writing.
  • Ability to interact diplomatically and confidentially as appropriate with faculty, students, staff and visitors.
  • High level of independent judgment and sensitivity.
  • Incumbent must be able to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines and to work effectively both independently and in collaboration.
  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and ethics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Slate software.
  • Experience in higher education or similar institutions with an understanding of college or university administration and processes.

Physical Demands:

  • May need to visit classrooms and other offices in the museum to complete or coordinate duties
