Job Title: Registrar Assistant
Job Status: Full-time
The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust seeks a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Registrar Assistant. This role is a full time, early career position working closely with all members of the Collections & Exhibitions team to improve department functionality and advance exhibition initiatives, while also focusing on matters related specifically to Registration.
Job Responsibilities:
- Attend exhibition planning meetings and assist in coordination, logistics and installation schedules.
- Attend and participate in training sessions and webinars regarding Registration. Through training and experience, advance to performing condition reports, light object handling and shipment oversight.
- Share responsibilities for the daily Gallery Walk Thru – cleaning the Galleries, noting items of concern related to objects on view, Gallery conditions and functionality.
- Clerical and Administrative support for the Collections & Exhibitions Department.
- Perform data entry and assist in data cleanup within TMS collections management system.
- Organize the Collections Inbox, participate in new acquisitions inquiries and research as appropriate.
- Participate in Outgoing Loans Committee.
- In collaboration with more senior staff, participate in file system overhaul.
- Review of Department documents, forms and workflows for potential improvements.
- Liaise with Communications staff regarding content information for web, blog, exhibition text, press requests, etc.
- Assist in the processes related to movement of collection objects.
- Additional projects as assigned and according to level of training, background and ability.
Requirements:
- B.A. in History, Museum Studies, Art History, or related fields or comparable work experience.
- Museum Collections and/or Registration internship experience or 1 year full-time Museum experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of relevant foreign language(s) not required but a bonus. (Polish, German, Russian, Hebrew, French, Yiddish, etc.)
- Strong organizational, research/interpretive, writing, and communications skills.
- Strong computer skills, TMS experience a plus.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to thrive in a tight knit team and while working independently.
- The ideal candidate must be flexible and able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to maintain discretion related to confidential or sensitive materials.
- The position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following:
- Sit and/or stand for extended periods.
- Bend, reach, climb and carry.
- Manual dexterity and coordination.
- Must be able to visually inspect artwork, including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.

Position Details:
- Reports to the Associate Registrar
- Covered by the DC-37 collective bargaining agreement
- Hourly compensation rate of $19.23
- Full-time, 40 hours weekly
