Position Description:
The New-York Historical Society is seeking a Coordinator of Teen Programs to support Teen Programming and our Digital Humanities initiatives for teens. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in a career in museum education or youth development. All Teen Programs take place in the Tech Commons @ New-York Historical, a fully equipped digital humanities lab.
The Coordinator of Teen Programs works closely with the Director of Teen and Digital Initiatives and the Manager of Teen Programs to support programs for teens in the Tech Commons.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities:
– Facilitate our Teen Leaders internship, Digital Humanities classes, and other teen programs as needed;
– Work with the Director of Teen and Digital Initiatives, visiting scholars, and digital humanists to create professional development opportunities for teens;
– Facilitate in-person and virtual teen programming;
– Provide administrative support for the teen programs team, including master calendar reservations, e-blasts, program recruitment, managing Teen Programs email accounts, web updates, attendance;
– Lead marketing and outreach efforts for all teen programs, including print and electronic materials as well as attending recruiting and opportunities fairs at schools and community-based organizations;
– Commit to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion in all aspects of audience engagement, recruitment, curriculum, and mentorship support;
– Actively engage with and contribute to the youth development, digital humanities, and museum community through presentations and networking opportunities;
– Contribute to grant proposals and reports as-needed;
– Contribute to Education Division-wide initiatives and events as-needed.
Candidate Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree in history, museum education, or education;
– Minimum of 2 years working with high school students, ideally in a museum setting;
– Knowledge of and experience with museum-based teaching, with an emphasis on student-led and inquiry-based instruction;
– Knowledge of and passion for history, preferably American history;
– A willingness to learn and teach students how to use Digital Humanities platforms and software.
– Previous experience in the Digital Humanities is not required for this position;
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
– Highly organized with great attention to detail;
– Skillful ability to multitask and balance multiple priorities;
– Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace;
– Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.

– This position will require the employee to lift (up to 25 lbs.), bend, stoop, walk, speak and stand for up to 6 hours in a day. Sedentary computer work is also required.
