Job Title: Curatorial Project Manager

Position Focus
Provides project management coordination for cross-departmental collection projects including exhibitions, object rotations, and publications. Represents the office of the Chief Curator at Gallery project meetings. Assumes management responsibility for documenting exhibition project scope, timeline, and budget accountability and has overall responsibility to anticipate, track, and troubleshoot actual and/or potential deviations. Represents curatorial interests in cross-divisional projects and facilitates curatorial access to management structures in other divisions. The position reports directly to the Chief Curator.
Essential Duties
- Manages special projects ranging from academic to financial from inception to completion, which requires quantitative analysis, independent research, and the proposal of resolutions or conclusions. Creates and envisions programmatic initiatives and communication strategies. 2. Designs and develops communications strategies for special projects. Develops and exercises a keen understanding of the multiple audiences and contributing University offices involved in a given project to ensure that individual communications are rolled out within a structure planned in advance and with appropriate communication among key stakeholders. 3. Envisions, creates and authors a wide variety of sensitive and high-level written materials. Serves as coordinator and executor for a range of internal and external committees. May participate in decisions regarding committee work. Advises panelists on precedents and prior actions. 4. Serves as Secretary for committee(s), manages informal and formal resolution processes and voluminous correspondence. 5. May supervise the work of project coordinator and administrative staff. 6. Serves as liaison to other departments on all communications. 7. Contributes to design, organization, and maintenance of department website. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education And Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to interact with all levels of management and variety of personalities. Attention to detail and proven ability to follow through.
Required Skill/Ability 2
Strong software application skills and demonstrated ability to learn new software packages; highly skilled in office productivity software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams Outlook, NetX, Photoshop, Adobe, and project management tools (e.g. Trello, Hive,etc.) Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Powe BI, etc.)
Required Skill/Ability 3
Strong and creative problem-solving skills, and ability to be self-directed.
Required Skill/Ability 4
Ability to coordinate and accomplish multiple tasks concurrently, while prioritizing requests.
Preferred Education, Experience And Skills
B.A. or equivalent and 5 years of experience with exhibition planning and/or project management. Experience in exhibition development and implementation Experience in museum, arts, or cultural fields. Familiarity with TMS or other collections management program preferred.
