The Bruce Museum, Greenwich, CT, seeks a Membership/Annual Fund Manager to join its growing team during an exciting time of transition.

A world-class community-based art and science institution, the Bruce has embarked on a transformative expansion and renovation, adding new galleries and inventive public spaces to educate, entertain, engage, and delight. Currently under construction, the expanded New Bruce will have, for the first time in its nearly 110-year history, five new galleries dedicated to the display of its growing permanent art collection. Doubling the size of the existing Museum, the Bruce will add elegant, flexible new spaces for art exhibitions, triple the current space for science exhibitions, create new education and community spaces including a cafe, a 200-seat auditorium, and conference room, and offer new programming for all ages and interests when it opens in spring 2023 (see www.newbruce.org).

The Membership/Annual Fund Manager is an integral part of the Development Team and will be responsible for implementing the newly updated founding member program that will launch prior to the grand opening.  The successful candidate will have an opportunity to make an impact from day one.  This position oversees the Annual Fund strategy and implementation.  Candidates should appreciate teamwork and building relationships across departments and in the community in support of the Museum’s Mission.  The Bruce Museum is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop the membership strategic plan including retention and conversion strategies as well as new member acquisition, and annual fund plan in coordination with Finance, Director of Development and Institutional Advancement, and Associate Director of Development to implement and ensure that membership goals adhere to approved budgets.
  • Process membership renewals, create member preview invitations, create content for promotional materials for lapsed member mailings and member emails.
  • Plan and oversee Robert Bruce Circle member-level events, including quarterly communications.
  • Plan and oversee membership events including opening celebrations for each new exhibition, new member events, and monthly special programs. Coordinate efforts for member programs with Audience Engagement to avoid overlap and foster collaboration.
  • Oversee membership processing in Altru including gift entry, reports, maintaining records, acknowledgements, and renewals. Process digital cards via Cuseum.
  • Provide Director of Development and Institutional Advancement with monthly financial reports to be presented to the Board.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing & Communications to plan and implement membership promotions, to create and distribute communications around member specific events, and website design and upkeep.
  • Work closely with Visitor Services to ensure proper procedures are in place for on-site sales and front-line staff is aware of member programs and communications.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate the organization’s annual fund campaign, including mailings, appeals, reports, analysis, and other relevant correspondence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years of museum or other non-profit experience working with a broad range of donors.
  • Fundraising experience essential & experience organizing special events required.
  • Presentation skills important; strong communication/organization skills required.
  • Familiarity with PCs, Microsoft Office & web-based communication platforms required.
  • Occasional weekend/evening event work required
  • Altru experience preferred;
  • Strong interest in the arts and sciences preferred.
