Position Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Collections, Exhibitions and Programs, the Public Programs Producer plans and executes compelling, thought-provoking public programs for a general audience. This position will focus efforts on growing Museum audiences by strengthening existing programs and delivering new
programs that demonstrate creativity, promote inclusion, and align with current thinking about public engagement in museums, while upholding the Museums core values of openness, social justice, innovation, and sustainability.
Requirements
Essential Functions
- Plan, execute and oversee in person and virtual public programs, including film screenings and festivals, musical performances, lectures/panel
discussions, book talks, and conferences, that resonate with local, national, and global audiences and align with the Museum’s standards and core
values. - Assist with the preparation of budgets; maintain and track program expense records and contracts.
- Organize activities and tasks of departmental interns and volunteers.
- Track and evaluate data and participant feedback for engagement, program implementation, and further program development.
- Support the Director of Collections, Exhibitions and Programs in the development and expansion of Museum programs and partnerships with
peers on national and international levels. - Work collaboratively intra and interdepartmentally to advance the Museum’s programmatic goals.
- Coordinate with Volunteer Coordinator to ensure appropriate volunteer support for programs; coordinate with Facilities and Front of House staff to
ensure the smooth execution of programs while adhering to Museum protocols. - Write copy and provide editorial and proofing support for online program descriptions, print collateral, and other communications pieces as needed.
- Support grant reporting work as it relates to public programming.
- Participate on the Museum’s DEAI Advisory Committee and bring a DEAI lens to the Museum’s programmatic strategies.
- Provide outstanding representation of the Museum at all programs and events.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Interest and familiarity with contemporary Nordic art and culture.
- Ability to establish and implement policies and procedures to achieve excellence in community engagement and alignment with the Museum’s
mission and core values. - Knowledge of professional museum practices with respect to education and
community programs. - Knowledge of Seattle area community institutions and their related outreach, education, and public programming.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of EQ/Emotional intelligence: thoughtful and measured in effectively managing a variety of internal and external relationships and
interactions. - Outstanding project management: ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with high energy, attention to detail and strong problem solving
skills. - Demonstrated ability to build relationships with other institutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, use independent judgment, and ensure high quality of work is produced on schedule and on
budget. - Adaptable to changing business situations and environments.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a related nonprofit field with an emphasis on developing and implementing programs with a public service-based
mandate, including but not limited to arts outreach, educational programming, or community events. - Weekend and evening work according to the program schedule.
- Proficiency in PC platform.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in Zoom and other video conferencing platforms.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs.
- Ability to be seated/standing for extended periods.
