Developmental Associate, Institutional Giving at the Jewish Museum

About:

The Jewish Museum seeks an energetic, organized, and detailed-oriented individual to provide essential support to the Development Department’s Institutional Giving team, which raises funds from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individuals for Museum exhibitions, education programs, and special projects. The Development Associate will provide support to the Assistant Director, Institutional Giving, with an emphasis on general operating support and corporate membership; as well as general support to the Institutional Giving team as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Assistant Director, Institutional Giving with requests for general operating support and the management of the corporate membership program, including reporting and stewardship of corporate memberships; advance a high volume of requests for general operating support and corporate membership.
  • Assist with the organization of corporate membership viewings.
  • Assist with the creation of the regular corporate newsletter and maintain the corporate development pages of the Museum website.
  • Support the Institutional Giving team with administering donor benefits, including ensuring donors are on appropriate event lists, complimentary catalogues are mailed, and private tours and events are coordinated as needed.
  • Work with the Membership Department to track expiration and renewal dates of complimentary memberships for restricted donors and mail new and renewed membership cards.
  • Act as the departmental liaison for list management, including invitations, catalogue mailings, and donor lists.
  • Create, update, format, and keep in supply the supplemental materials needed by the Institutional Giving Department for proposals, reports, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Director, Institutional Giving, including filing, mailings, photocopying, and ordering supplies.
  • As needed, arrange meetings and small cultivation events for the Institutional Giving team     .
  • Participate in development-related events, requiring some evening and weekend hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.    

Requirements:

  • One to two years of direct experience preferred, particularly in an art museum or cultural institution
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to write and speak in clear and compelling ways
  • Strong judgment and the ability to work well both independently and with a team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects under the pressure of deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative as well as direction
  • Experience working  with budgets
  • A positive attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Willingness to work periodic weekends and evenings
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and preferably Salesforce)    
  • Bachelor’s degree required
