Part-Time Intern with the Silver Art Project

Silver Art Project is seeking a part-time paid intern (April – August). 

Silver Art Project provides 28 artist studio spaces of 500-1,200 sq.ft. each, free with 24/7 access for a yearlong artist studio residency on the 28th Floor (40,000sq.ft.) of World Trade Center 4.  The primary focus of the residency is supporting, developing, and advancing the careers of  previously marginalized, underserved artists. 

The candidate must be available for a Monday-Friday schedule, 2-3 hours per day. With in person assistance for events as needed. 

An internship at Silver Art Projects will provide in-depth knowledge of the daily workings of a  non-profit artist residency. The position will gain an understanding of arts non-profit  management, contemporary artist studio practice and insight into future career paths within  the art world. An individual with a passion for contemporary art will find working in this  environment an invaluable experience and forge and direct relationship with contemporary  artists. 

Qualifications: 

  • Reliable, highly organized, and attentive to details – the artist are depending on  responsiveness to enable their work and facilitating curator guests.  
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to take initiative, multitask, and work graciously under deadlines • A knowledge of contemporary art, logistics and administrative support, would be  preferable. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Event RSVP management for studio tours and visits 
  • Manage artist visitor requests in building management software platform • Liaise with shipping vendors and schedule loading dock and messenger center requests  in management software platform 
  • Support daily administrative and operative tasks. 
  • Assist and update website, artist pages, and mailing list 
  • Serve as a resource for the artists, answering questions about building operations and  processes at large. 

Compensation: 

The intern will be paid a monthly stipend of $1,500/month as an independent contractor.
