Description:

Opportunity to catalog two additions to the archives at the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site Archives, a significant repository for Black history and material culture, at the Northeast Museum Services Center, a branch of the National Park Service. Year-long fellowship through American Conservation Experience. Duties include arrangement, rehousing, and creating finding aid and catalog records using national and NPS standards.
M.L.S. or Master’s degree in History required or in process; coursework or practical work experience in archives preferred. Background in Black history and/or community archives desirable.

The Northeast Museum Services Center is located in Charlestown, MA and is accessible via public transportation. Hourly pay is $22.50, 40 hrs./week, with no benefits. Anticipated start date mid May at the Center’s offices in Charlestown Navy Yard. Housing is not available, but parking or transit subsidy may be provided.

This position is funded through the Public Land Corps Act which has specific program requirements: Must be 18-30 years of age to apply; military veterans up to 35 are encouraged to apply; US citizen or permanent resident.
