Description
At Beam, we’ve spent the last 16 years coalescing multi-ethnic and intergenerational learning communities of youth, artists, and teachers who work together to construct spectacular projects – big and small – that highlight the magic of creative cooperation.
We are a staff of 24 full-time and 20 part-time adults and youth, engaging 7,000 students and 300+ teachers in 28 public schools annually. More than 96% of the young people we serve identify as youth of color and/or newly immigrated. Our large-scale public artworks reach tens of thousands of people at installations across the city. Our summer camp in New Hampshire hosts 105 campers from around NY and the world for 4 week sessions. In Summer 2021, we launched Beam Camp City, a camp-like experience for youth on Governors Island.
Beam’s Development Department seeks an enthusiastic associate to support our mission through donor research, outreach, and relationship management.
Responsibilities: Assist with all aspects of major donor giving, including: seasonal giving campaigns, special events, annual giving appeal, donors research, donor meeting coordination and outreach
Major Gift Fundraising
- Research prospective donors using Beam Center’s research database iWave
- Identify new individual, institutional, and corporate funding opportunities that align with our organization’s mission, programs, and enterprises
- Coordinate donor meetings with director of development and programmatic staff
- Draft donor correspondence and create fundraising collateral
- Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, including our annual gala
- Meet with programming staff in order to understand and clearly articulate the full scope of their programming and youth engagement efforts
Institutional Giving
- Collaborate with programming staff and development director to gather data, information, and documentation necessary for powerful storytelling and strong funding proposals
- Act as a second reader for completed grant proposals, summaries, and LOIs
Administration
- With support from the Director of Development and Finance team, manage institutional and individual gifts in CRM database, Bloomerang
- Track donor engagement using CRM database and internal report
- Coordinate donor thank yous upon gift receipt
- Assist in annual donor acknowledgement process
