The Met’s Department of Education—dedicated to making art meaningful and accessible for everyone—is central to the mission of the Museum. The Department is a national and international leader in museum-based education and public programming, pushing boundaries through continuous innovation and experimentation. In-person and virtual programs include high school and college internships that promote career development and diversity; Pre-K–12 educator programs that train teachers to integrate art into curricula across disciplines; performances, concerts, lectures, and symposia that feature preeminent artists and scholarship; daily tours in multiple languages, and so much more. The work performed by the person in this role will be conducted onsite; this is not an offsite or remote working job opportunity.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

The Museum seeks a dynamic individual as the Program Associate, Academic and Professional Programs, The successful candidate is responsible for providing day-to-day administrative support for the work of the Academic and Professional Programs (APP) division in the Education Department, playing a critical role to support relationships with scholars from the United States and around the world. Working closely with the Associate Educator, this position supports APP program functions, with a specific focus on the Fellows Alumni Association, a future Fellows’ biannual conference and publications. This position works collaboratively with staff and fellows throughout the Education Department and the Museum.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

· At the direction of the Associate Educator, Academic and Professional Programs, provide administrative support of all programs for APP, including preparation of contracts and award letters, organizing events for fellows, coordinate the onboarding of scholars and general logistics for visiting researchers, exchange participants and Museum staff.

· Respond to Museum and public inquiries, serving as a key front-line contact for the Division.

· Fellowship Alumni Association: manage and update records, including the directory of alumni members; assist with events and activities of alumni including the annual reunion, future biannual conference, publications and development of searchable database of alumni online.

· Assist the Associate Educator with the annual Fellowship Newsletter

· Monitor and maintain budgets, prepare and process invoices, and track expenses.

· Organize and prepare internally and externally facing program communications, including regular entries and updates to the Museum’s website content, event and personnel management systems, and print publications.

· Support the administration of Division program and logistics, including reserving rooms and resources, and purchasing and maintaining supplies.

· General office assistance including internal and external correspondence and overall maintenance of files, and mailing lists.

· Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Fully vaccinated with an FDA or WHO authorized vaccine (or approved for an exemption as a reasonable accommodation due to a disability, sincerely held religious belief, or pregnancy, or because you are a victim of domestic violence, stalking, or sex offenses).

Experience and Skills:

· 1-2 years of administrative experience in a museum setting or other non-profit;

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, required;

· Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, required;

· Excellent budget management and analytical skills, required;

· Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write succinctly, and proofread materials for online and print publication, required;

· Experience working with and maintaining databases and spreadsheets utilizing complex systems, required;

· Demonstrated ability to multitask, remain flexible, problem-solve, and take initiative, required;

· Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively and professionally with different constituencies, verbally and in writing. Motivated and personable stance towards visitors and colleagues, and a demonstrable desire and ability to effectively engage with others in the Museum.

Knowledge and Education:

· Bachelor’s degree, required. Master’s degree, preferred;

· Knowledge of art history and visual culture, art education or related field, preferred;

· Fluency or competency in a foreign language, preferred;

· Full command of the Microsoft Office Suite and solid computer skills, required;

· Knowledge of systems including Artifax and Workday, preferred.
