Part-Time Position: Exhibit Interpreter at the Museum of Food and Drink

Commitment: Temporary, Part-Time (up to 35 hours per week) through June 19, 2022
Compensation: $18/hour

MOFAD, the Museum of Food and Drink, is seeking Exhibit Interpreters to help create an exceptional museum experience for our guests at our new exhibition, African/American: Making the Nation’s Table in the Africa Center at Aliko Dangote Hall in Harlem, NY. You’ll be in charge of ensuring our space is welcoming for all guests. Specifically, you will be interacting and speaking with guests as you guide them through parts of the exhibition. You will help ensure positive visitor experiences and assist Floor Managers with day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities:
● Welcome and engage with all museum visitors
● Provide information, feedback, and exemplary service
● Assist visitors with exhibition’s VR content
● Help with maintenance and upkeep of Oculus VR systems
● Serve and guide visitors through an exhibition-themed tasting
● Help resupply the tasting area with utensils, napkins, and beverages as needed
● Become knowledgeable about the content of the exhibition
● Perform daily checks and the oversee security and well-being of exhibition artifacts and displays
● Help manage daily exhibition floor preparation and upkeep
● Assist with enforcing COVID-19 protocols per Key to NYC health regulations and protocols
● Do whatever it takes! Be willing to assist with all manner of tasks

Qualifications:
● General knowledge of VR experiences (specifically with Oculus is a plus)
● Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
● Positive and dependable work ethic
● Are excellent at managing your time effectively while simultaneously handling multiple tasks
● Have an aptitude for conflict resolution, negotiation, and creating positive outcomes
● Have strong interpersonal, collaborative, written communication, and customer service skills
● Flexible work schedule including some evenings, weekends, and holiday availability
● Have basic computer skills
● Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and willing to enforce protocols with staff,
volunteers, and guests as per NYC Health regulations and protocol

Exhibition Hours:
● Wednesday-Sunday 10am-5pm, plus occasional weekday evening programs usually mid-week between 6-9pm (working hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm; actual schedule will be determined by hours of operation and special events)
