Associate Manager, Community Engagement at the Guggenheim

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Working independently, under the guidance of the Director, School, Youth and Family Programs, the Associate Manager, Community Engagement will take an active role in supporting the day-to-day directives of their supervisors.
SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years of experience working with students in a cultural institution, school environment or community based organization required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment a must.
- Ability to be proactive, use independent judgment and initiative.
- Proficiency in Spanish language is a plus.
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of people within and outside the museum. Professionally represent the institution and its programs across a wide range of circumstances.
- Competent in planning and implementation of multiple concurrent projects and events.
- Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop a multi-year strategic plan to engage communities in school, youth and family programming
- Deepen engagement with diverse communities throughout NYC by building partnerships with community based organizations, local neighborhood groups and civic and community leaders.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager, School Programs and Director of School, Youth and Family programs to ensure program offerings are accessible and inclusive.
- Partner with Manager of Youth and Family programs to develop an array of on-site programs for youth audiences.
- Teach on-site and virtual classes for youth audiences
WORK DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree with strong interest in art. Master’s Degree in a related field is a plus.
