Manager, Academic Engagement at the Guggenheim

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Working independently, under the guidance of the Assistant Director, Academic Engagement, the Manager, Academic Engagement will be involved in teaching, research, curriculum development and general program management. This position supports an interdisciplinary, diverse, and innovative approach to object-based teaching and learning. By actively working to advance the Guggenheim’s collaborations with faculty and college and university students, this position promotes and supports the development of the Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion plan.
SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with students in a cultural institution, school environment or community-based organization required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment a must.
- Ability to be proactive, use independent judgment and initiative.
- Ability to work collaboratively, and develop partnerships with faculty and students in rapidly changing and dynamic environment.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- With the Assistant Director of Academic Engagement, build program curricula, teach, and conduct research for departmental programs
- Mentor and support program participants
- Develop a system for documenting and archiving curricula and student work for each program
- Develop and manage detailed project schedule and work plan; utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
- In consultation with the Assistant Director of Academic Engagement, create and update fellowship and internship handbook and guidelines
- Support the development of and manage alumni network
- Create reports and manage statistics on departmental programs
- Support Associate Manager of Academic Programs with recruitment and selection of qualified participants for departmental programs
WORK DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim’s owned or leased properties upon request.
- Occasionally work may be conducted outdoors, exposure to varied weather conditions.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays on occasion.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Strong interest in art preferred.
- Master’s Degree in a related field is a plus
