Special Programs and Engagement Intern at the Fraunces Tavern Museum

Compensation: $750 stipend
Fraunces Tavern Museum’s mission is to preserve and interpret the history of the American Revolutionary era through public education. The Museum was founded in 1907 by Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Inc. Housed in historic Fraunces Tavern, the permanent collection focuses on 18th and 19th century buildings, period rooms, prints, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, and manuscripts relating to or reflecting aspects of early American culture and history. Also included in the collection are items associated with the history of the Sons of the Revolution of the State of New York.
The intern, reporting to the Special Programs and Engagement Manager, will help assist in the development and implementation of upcoming fall and winter programming.
Responsibilities:

Research and develop content for upcoming special programming, including Evacuation Day, Washington’s Farewell, Tavern Tastings and other programs as necessary.

Help research and develop content for the museum’s digital presence, including social media content, blog posts, and other mission-driven content.

Must be comfortable providing in-person support during outdoor events at the Museum including event set-up, interacting one-on-one with visitors, and assisting with tasks as needed.

Comfortable working independently to conduct research.
Qualifications:

Must be a recent college graduate or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate studies program in History, Museum Studies, Public History, Social Studies, or related field.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Previous education or experience in the Revolutionary War and Colonial period is required.
