FT non-profit Development Coordinator/Grant Writer

CITYarts is a New York non-profit public art organization founded 32 years ago that engages youth with professional artists in the creation of murals and mosaic to transform our neighborhoods. Through a guided creative process with professional artists, CITYarts educates and connects youth and children locally and around
the world, empowering them to become active participants in realizing their personal potential and beautifying their communities.

We are looking for a full-time, hard-working, committed, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic development professional with a sense of urgency and a passionate commitment to youth and the arts. The position requires interpersonal skills with supporters of the organization, as well as excellent writing and research abilities. The candidate must be a capable self-starter who works well as an individual, accepts directions, and works well in a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and cultivate new sources of government, corporate, foundation and individual support in writing, by phone, and in-person
  • Write interim and final reports for grants
  • Provide meticulous care in the appearance and content of work products
  • Maintain system for tracking all development correspondence, reporting and supporter records
  • Maintain fundraising calendar and donation records
  • Provide staff support and outreach for the Annual Gala, Annual Appeals, and other fundraising events

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree a plus, but not required depending on experience
  • 1 year of grant writing required with 2-3 years of prior development/fundraising experience for an arts non-profit in writing grants and proposals to foundations, corporations, and individuals is preferred
  • Knowledge of non-profit arts programs and development
  • Excellent writing, presentation, research, and planning skills
  • Creative and curious attitude, courteous over the phone, and a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to set goals and take ownership of duties
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, G Suite
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM

COMPENSATION

  • Starting salary 40k+ commensurate with experience
