Curator of Education – MassArt Art Museum, Massachusetts College of Art and Design

The MassArt Art Museum (MAAM) is the teaching museum for Massachusetts College of Art and Design, a freestanding public college located in Boston. MAAM is a non-collecting museum, showing exhibitions that feature the work of artists at all stages of their careers. MAAM is a resource for MassArt students, faculty, and the public — educating our community members about contemporary art; partnering with faculty to support MassArt curriculum; and preparing students for careers in the museum field. As an extension of the College’s public mission, MAAM is also a resource for the community, offering a pathway to education in the arts and free educational programming to Boston-area public schools and neighborhood groups. The Curator of Education supports the mission of the MAAM by directing the development, planning, implementation, and assessment of the museum’s programs for MassArt faculty and students, youth, and the greater Boston community. An accomplished educator, the Curator of Education also teaches and leads MAAM’s Museum Education programs.

This position conceptualizes, designs, and directs programs and teaching strategies that align with the mission and values of MAAM and the college. They will develop a strategy for a range of art-centered teaching and learning tools and engagements. This position oversees MassArt student connections through employment opportunities and curriculum engagement. The Curator of Education creates and implements a museum-centered training plan and curriculum for all student employees at MAAM. This position will develop an engagement plan to affirm that each visitor can meaningfully engage with contemporary art, continue a relationship with MAAM, and enact mission-centered pathways for a welcoming, inclusive environment.

The Curator of Education will administer the operation of MAAM’s education programs and work with other areas of the college on funding pathways. Full job description and how to apply: https://g.co/kgs/NKJ2tJ
