Museum Preparator – Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth

The Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth seeks a museum preparator to support the museum’s exhibitions, collections, and academic programming. Reporting to the lead preparator and working in consultation with the exhibitions manager and registrars, the museum preparator must value a collaborative approach to the installation and collections processes, working closely with a variety of stakeholders including curators, students, faculty, and visiting artists.

Candidates must have a combination of skills and experience related to the preventive care and installation of the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, aligning with current best practices for handling art and material culture objects. This may include experience with carpentry, metals fabrication, packing and crating, rigging and lifting equipment, matting and framing, AV and lighting equipment, 3D modeling, and studio art practices.
