Museum Services Associate (Part-time) – Fraunces Tavern Museum

Fraunces Tavern Museum’s mission is to preserve and interpret the history of the American Revolutionary era through public education. This missions is fulfilled through the interpretation and preservation of the Museum’s collections, landmarked buildings, and varied public programs that serve the community. 

Fraunces Tavern Museum is seeking a responsible and outgoing individual to assist with museum services and housekeeping. As a representative of the Museum, the Associate must maintain excellent customer service. This position is part-time hourly, 3 days a week from 9:30am to 5:30pm with some pre-determined evenings. The Museum Services Associate will report to the Education & Public Programs Manager. This is an entry level position with room for advancement across Museum departments.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting visitors, answering the phone during front desk hours, and processing admissions through an online ticketing platform, in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
  • Provide general information and answer questions about the Museum.
  • Relay accurate information about programs/events to visitors.
  • General housekeeping for front and back of the house.
  • Sell and stock gift shop items, assist with online gift shop order mailings.
  • Accept mail and sign for packages.
  •    Ensure a clean, orderly building environment, including disposal of trash and recycling.
  • Regular cleaning and stocking of museum and staff facilities, in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
  • Open and close the museum for operating hours, including setting alarms.

Attributes

  • Experience handling cash and credit transactions.
  • Experience with online ticketing platforms a plus but not required.
  • Experience working in a Museum setting or events background.
  • Must be comfortable engaging and welcoming the public to the Museum, both in-person and over the phone.
  • Must be comfortable working alone without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work on their feet and at seated point-of-sale workstation for several hours.
  • Some schedule flexibility; able to work occasional weekday evenings.

Schedule

3 days a week: Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday (9:30am-5:30pm)

Compensation

$17/hour
