Full time (Monday to Friday: 9.30 am to 6pm) Sean Kelly seeks an experienced individual to join our team as the Archivist. The role involves facilitating photography production, managing the gallery’s archive and content management systems, and facilitating all aspects of image reproduction requests and permissions. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, methodical, efficient, have excellent interpersonal skills, and possess strong office computer skills. The ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment is critical. Proficiency with Photoshop, photo production, content management systems and copyright law is essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collect, maintain and file all visual documentation to the SKNY servers. Size, edit, and color correct images for digital and physical publications.
  • Resize and reformat images for size specifications and upload to gallery’s inventory and content management systems.
  • Schedule and facilitate exhibition photo shoots and prepare list of works to be photographed in coordination with Directors and Registrarial Department.
  • Facilitate all aspects of image reproduction requests from publications, institutions, museums, artist’s studios, collectors, etc. Ensuring proper captions, credits and permissions are obtained and given.
  • Assist with licensing and production of SKNY published books and catalogs.
  • Manage and maintain the gallery’s library both physically and digitally in Artlogic. 
  • Maintain illustration and exhibition histories of SKNY artworks in Artlogic.
  • Save video artworks and clips to the Server. Create watermarked versions for Vimeo.
  • Assist Sales and Communications team with maintenance of Artsy, Artnet, Ocula.. and SKNY website.
  • Liaise and manage relationship with IT service provider to schedule maintenance, troubleshoot and advise on technology.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience working in a gallery, museum or with an archival collection preferred.
  • Experience with photography production and editing. Experience with video and video editing a plus.
  • Experience with file sharing servers, content management systems such as Artlogic, Artbase or similar database.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, G-Suite, Mac Mail, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Apple OS and website management platforms such as exhibit-E.
  • Knowledge of copyright laws and procedures for digital and physical publications. Experience sizing images for print and web usage.
  • Possess excellent time management and written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and organized.
