Gallery Assistant – Montclair State University, Montclair, New Jersey

REPORTS TO: Director
SUMMARY: Provide a broad range of administrative, collection, and exhibition support to the University Galleries staff.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides a broad range of administrative and program support including: responds to both internal and external general inquiries, schedule meetings, maintains calendars, directs visitors, ensures supplies are maintained and equipment is working, manages mailings, gathers data and materials for special projects, maintains archive files, makes travel arrangements for staff and special speakers/lecturers/artists. Assists the Director with the gallery budget by tracking expenditures and executing payments. Creates and maintains a financial recordkeeping system.

Assists gallery staff as needed, with a variety of projects pertaining to the collection database, moving artwork, and supporting public programming, as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director. Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required. Background in art or related field. Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work as part of a team. Proficient with Google Suite (Docs/Sheets/Slides/Forms), Social Media (Facebook/Instagram), email marketing (Mailchimp), Adobe (Acrobat/Photoshop/InDesign), database management systems (Collector’s Systems). Experience with Mac and Windows Experience working in higher education, museums, or galleries preferred.
