WORK-STUDY POSITION: GRADUATE INTERNSHIP, GREY ART GALLERY

The Grey Art Gallery, NYU’s fine arts museum, seeks NYU graduate student candidates for a paid remote internship during fall term 2020.

Responsibilities:

The intern’s main responsibility will be to document a working artist’s creative process through consultation with the artist, conducting oral interview via video, compiling process documentation, and drafting descriptive artwork label information for public distribution. Other tasks may include: enhancing content on the Grey’s website, including writing blogposts, posting images/text for works from the NYU art collection, and expanding information on past exhibitions and public programs; assisting in publicizing online events; performing research for upcoming Grey exhibitions as needed; and contributing to additional Grey projects as they arise. 

Qualifications:

Graduate student in art history, museum studies, or arts administration with a strong academic record and excellent research, verbal, and writing skills. Previous experience with audiovisual production, oral history, and/or artist interviews preferred. Highly focused with strong attention to detail. Good interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in a team. Reliable, on-time. Attentive to supervisor’s instructions and needs while also able to work independently. Previous internship experience in an art museum is helpful but not required.

Performance evaluation is ongoing through informal discussions with supervisor. At the end of employment period, intern will be asked to complete an exit questionnaire.

Expected hours of work are 5–10 hours per week.

This position will be remote. The Grey Art Gallery, New York University, is located at 100 Washington Square East, NYC 10003
