Education Internship (Remote) – Unpaid – Museum Studies

he Mark Twain House & Museum seeks a 300-hour graduate-level intern to work with the School Programs Coordinator on the development of a new educational program. “Shop Local,” based on the contents of the Clemens family’s detailed check register, will allow middle and high school students to explore the family’s home economy in Gilded Age Hartford, with a particular emphasis on local foodways and labor relationships.

This intern will collaborate with the School Programs Coordinator to:
Determine the appropriate forms for virtual and face-to-face delivery
Use existing educational programming and relevant curriculum standards to determine appropriate learning outcomes, content parameters, and accessibility
Digitize relevant portions of the check register
Select and research local, regional, national, and international businesses
Create materials for program delivery

This internship is unpaid, but can be taken for credit as your program allows. It is designed to be completed remotely, though on-site visits may be possible if and when public health conditions permit.

Applicants should be current graduate students in public history or museum studies. Interests in museum education, history, and mapping are a plus. Dates and hours are flexible, but interns must commit to at least 15 hours a week. The internship can begin as early as August 1^st, 2020.
