Art Residency Manager – International Studio & Curatorial Program

The International Studio & Curatorial Program is seeking an Arts Residency Manager in East Williamsburg, NY. ISCP is a not-for-profit, residency-based contemporary art center for emerging to mid-career artists and curators from around the world. The Arts Residency Manager is responsible for managing, developing, and implementing ISCP’s artistic programs. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing new professional and artistic networks both within the local arts community and internationally, including funding organizations. Arts Residency Manager works under the supervision of the Executive Director, supervises the Programs Associate, and oversees the programmatic responsibilities of all other staff members.

Currently ISCP provides the following programs, which are the Arts Residency Manager’s responsibility to develop, plan, and implement: – Residency Program: including but not limited to 24 guest critics annually and advisors for International Residency program, 20 regional field trips annually, all Ground Floor program benefits – Public programs: Bi-monthly ISCP talks, bi-annual Open Studios, and other occasional events – Coordinate and plan alumni initiatives – Oversee the organization of occasional off-site programs The Arts Residency Manager also oversees the exhibition program in consultation with the Executive Director. Arts Residency Manager will curate occasional projects; others will be curated by independent curators. Some exhibitions are accompanied by publications.
 
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • General office administration and management
  • Board and sponsor correspondence
  • Daily communication with artists and curators in the program
  • Supervise Programs Associate on maintaining relationships with existing, lapsed and potential sponsors
  • Supervise Facilities Manager for exhibition installation and deinstallation, coordinate Facilities Manager’s schedule with Chief Financial Officer
  • Initiate and foster collaborations with a diverse range of organizations, arts professionals and government representatives

The position is the primary liaison between the artists and curators in residence and a chief liaison with arts professionals, the arts community, and the public. The Arts Residency Manager represents ISCP at certain designated events that involve promotion for the program and its artists and curators.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of five years experience in contemporary arts programming, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • Ability to work with a team and independently in a fast paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize, problem solve, and multitask.
  • Must have supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with the grant writing process.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent number years’ experience.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and G Suite; Salesforce/database experience a plus Position salary is high $50,000s
