Public History Graduate Internship (Spring 2020) – Illinois College

The Public History Graduate Intern will work during the spring semester with the Paul Findley Congressional Office Museum and the Khalaf Al Habtoor Archives at Illinois College. The graduate intern will collaborate with the college archivist and college curator on a range of short- and long term projects and gain experience with the day-to-day management of a campus archive and museum. The selected candidate will also help oversee and mentor a team of undergraduate student workers and two undergraduate interns. Throughout the internship, the selected candidate will serve as a key contributor to an ongoing campus-wide project, the Findley Interfaith Initiative. The graduate intern will gain and hone experience in curating and uploading selected content to a digital database and assist in planning and implementing a public program.
The Findley Interfaith Initiative is a new project at Illinois College which explores how Congressman Paul Findley (1921-2019) modeled interfaith leadership throughout his career. The project and the internship are largely supported by a grant from the Interfaith Youth Core.

ELIGIBILITY
Current graduate or recently graduated students from MA or MLIS programs in history, public history, archival studies, historical administration, art history, library sciences, and related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Students interested in a career in archives, records management, public history, and museums are especially encouraged.

COMPENSATION
The selected candidate will receive free housing and a stipend of approximately $2,500.
