Intern at Art in Odd Places
Art in Odd Places (AiOP) is an NYC grassroots public art project exploring connections between public spaces, communication, politics, visual/performance art, and pedestrian traffic. AiOP curates one large-scale project each year in October. This year Art in Odd Places 2019: INVISIBLE curated by LuLu LoLo, along 14th Street from Avenue C to the Hudson River will present artists who are sixty years old+ along with various forms of intergenerational collaborations on October 17-20. In addition to the festival, the Promenade of Visual Flâneurs features artists who will saunter and stroll with their paintings, sculptures, and costumes en mass the entire 2.2-mile length of 14th Street on Saturday, October 19 & Sunday, October 20 from 2-4 pm.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong interest in arts administration and/or public art; have the flexibility and the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team; have proficient computer skills (MS Office and HTML) and possess excellent communication and writing skills.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Administrative with general assistance and research
- Artists’ project assistance: installation, stage management, and performance
- Social Media assistance
- preparing and helping at events: opening, panel discussion, and tours
This is an unpaid internship. AiOP has no office so the candidate must be prepared to work from home and have computer/cell phone availability. Commitment until October 2019 AiOP festival preferred.
