Exhibition Assistant, Sean Scully Retrospective

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is seeking an Exhibition Assistant who will assist the Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art with all tasks related to the organization of the Sean Scully retrospective exhibition and its related catalogue. Opening in the summer of 2020, this exhibition is devoted to the work of Sean Scully, an artist whose rich body of work spans more than five decades and represents a significant chapter in the history of abstraction.

Exhibition responsibilities include cross-departmental communication, assisting with the development of the exhibition checklist and installation design, supporting the drafting of exhibition didactics, contributing to the development of public programs, and assisting with related media and social media efforts. Catalogue-related responsibilities will include working with the exhibition’s co-curators and the museum’s Publishing Department on all aspects of the book, from liaising with its authors and designer to pursuing image rights and reproductions.

This is a part-time, temporary position scheduled for 21 hours a week until the opening of the exhibition in June 2020.
