Spring 2018 Internship – Curatorial Intern – Art Connects NY – Jan. 25

I am writing to pass along an internship opportunity for students in the the Museum Studies program. This internship is with Art Connects New York, a non-profit that curates exhibitions of contemporary art for permanent placement in social service agencies, supportive housing, settlement houses, and public housing facilities. We are kicking off our second decade with a two-year partnership with NYCHA’s Robert Fulton Houses. As Director of Programs, I am looking for an intern interested in researching and supporting the placement of art into a very specific public space at the center of various city agencies.

The intern will help Art Connects gather research, support various curators hired for this project, and help to decipher what kinds of artworks (murals, sound art, outdoor sculpture and installation, social practice, permanent or seasonal) would best suit the public housing facility. They will have the opportunity to learn about the New York City Housing Authority, the Federal Works Progress Administration, the history of public art, and community based non-profits.

A full description of this internship is attached.
