MAJOR GIFTS COORDINATOR

Reporting to the Director of Individual and Planned Giving, the Major Gifts Coordinator provides essential support for the Museum’s major gift efforts by playing an integral role in the benefit fulfillment and administration of several patron groups.  With an overarching knowledge of all major gift events taking place at the Whitney, the coordinator works directly with major gift officers and is involved in a wide range of activities, including the planning and execution of all aspects of patron events; generates renewals and correspondence; monitors patron group budgets; maintains income reports, donor and prospect lists and records; organizes tours for major gift donors; and carries out other administrative work.  Direct contact with the Director’s Office and the Curatorial Department and will work indirectly with the Whitney’s volunteer leaderships and supporters.  Assists in the tracking of the overall Major Gifts budget and on various projects as they arise.

Job requirements: B.A; 3 years Development experience in a Museum; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational abilities and excellent phone manner; MS Office and Raiser’s Edge knowledge required.  Availability to work evenings and weekends is essential; position may involve some travel.  The ideal candidate must be adaptable; flexible; detail and deadline oriented; and have the ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
