Professor Percy Deift of the Courant School of Mathematics has won the 2018 Henry Poincaré Prize for his “seminal contributions to Schroedinger operators, inverse scattering theory, nonlinear waves, asymptotic analysis of Fredholm and Toeplitz determinants, universality in random matrix theory, and his deep analysis of integrable models.”
The Poincaré Prize, established in 1997, recognizes outstanding contributions in the field of mathematical physics, and contributions which lay the groundwork for novel developments in this broad field. The prize is awarded every three years at the International Mathematical Physics Congress, and is awarded to three individuals at the discretion of the prize committee.
Congratulations to Professor Deift and the Department of Mathematics!
