Research in the Motor Speech Lab at New York University explores speech motor control, as well as the relationship between linguistic and motoric control, in children and adults. The broad objective of our work is to develop a stronger understanding of the relationship between speech motor control and sound production. We achieve this goal using methods that combine transcription, acoustic and kinematic analyses. Current projects are investigating speech motor control and motor learning across the lifespan, as well as the efficacy of motor-based treatments in childhood apraxia of speech (CAS).
The Motor Speech Lab is directed by Dr. Maria Grigos and is located in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at NYU at 665 Broadway, 6th floor. Please contact us at nyu.msl@gmail.com for more information about our research.
