Fall 2022 Issue

Dear Readers,

In this season’s issue, you might recognize  “a trend of cannibalism” bleeding through your screen. “As with many internet trends, it all started with Tumblr.” But at least we can agree, “Between the beautiful and the sublime, I’m kind of down with the sublime.” Or as Emma Chamberlin and Madame Bovary come to see, “There is no self, only Emma.”

Shall we re-begin in media-res?:

From his newfound uprightness, he speeds toward the titular lawnmower.

Oh! “The manifestation of this capitalist pursuit.”

Here at the Greene Street Review, “We believe in Him and His commandments.”

Or “To Abraham’s point: Taylor Swift has never been fat.”

“Marilyn is handed a hard-boiled egg and asks, Is this for eating?”

Unfortunately, the answer lies in Vine (rip).”

Take me back to: “Dublin. 1952. Three years before he will create his cat.”Curiosity for one –– it just holds you hostage.” “New borders will always be haunted by old borders, and to live in the new land is to be subject to these hauntings.”

On the other hand, “I know of Borges from the mail.”

At this point, “You may be wondering … why does this matter?”

However, “The criticism adds to the longevity of its existence;”  Or perhaps, “This would be an uncharitable reading of my essay which I do NOT support[!]” And alas dearest, most reliant readers, I end my “masterfully crafted illusion of honesty,”

by insisting, “do it right or do it twice.”

Be sure not to miss all of the afflicting sentences above and more, contextualized in culture-forward reviews, essays, and interviews in the latest edition of the Greene Street Review, Spring 2022.

“The Duty of [Cultural Reviews] Is To Comfort the Afflicted and To Afflict the Comfortable”

James Freyland
Managing Editor

James is a senior obsessed with all things literary, philosophical, and political. When not busy with school or work, he’s preoccupied with the sincerity of the “post” in postcolonial literature. Nathan is a third-year Politics student at NYU and freelance journalist writing on beats covering New York, Asian issues, international events, and more. He is a voracious editor who enjoys correcting his peers’ grammatical errors and failing to understand comma splices himself. In his free time, Nathan plays a concerning amount of League of Legends.

Ted Noser

He feels pride when others call him too optimistic.
