Newsletter 2/15/22
Hello!
Welcome to the biweekly newsletter from the Greene Street Review, an online magazine from New York University’s Department of English. Composed entirely of undergraduate students, the Greene Street Review is published twice a year, with cultural criticism on books, films, and television, as well as interviews and essays of various interests. Our Fall 2021 issue, “Homecoming,” covered topics ranging from Sally Rooney’s novel Beautiful World, Where are You? to philosophies of photography and musings on pasta shapes. This very newsletter, edited this semester by students Sean Krupa and Jonathan Schatzberg (Hi again, by the way), is meant to serve as an update as to how the publication is looking, in addition to announcements, event recommendations, and some current events from our team.
This week, we polled our publication team on the latest cultural reckonings. We considered the conspiracy of Italian author Elena Ferrante: WHO ARE YOU ELENA FERRANTE? We also checked to see if more people watched Euphoria instead of the Superbowl, and if Kanye West is the greatest celebrity of all time – see results below!

On that note, a quote from our beloved Elena Ferrante… supposedly.
“One can’t go on anymore, she said, electronics seems so clean and yet it dirties, dirties tremendously, and it obliges you to leave traces of yourself everywhere as if you were shitting and peeing on yourself continuously: I want to leave nothing, my favorite key is the one that deletes.”
Happy belated Valentine’s Day.
Best,
The Greene Street Review
