This short story is about a young boy growing up to be successful, then losing everything because he was too prideful. The boy and Yudhisthira are alike, as they both begin as leaders and take pride in themselves as that's what makes them who they are. Both go downhill as they are blinded by their actions, not wanting to become a loser, which was their ultimate downfall.
There was a boy, his name was Oswald Furns. Oswald grew up in a rich family with his parents and his younger brother in a small town in the state of Texas. When he was young he was a bright kid who was fortunate to be a successful man when he grew up.
When he went to school he studied the hardest out of anyone he knew. He learned business and how it works in middle school and was the Valedictorian of his high school. When he graduated he got a part-time job working in an office, already receiving the average salary. Oswald studied business in college and with his past experience it was a walk in the park for him. He was showing up in news articles as a prodigy and everyone who knew business knew about Oswald.
At the age of twenty-seven, Oswald owned a business with his younger brother called Vesdino. Vesdino is an online shopping service and two years after its launch, was almost rivaling Amazon. Oswald, now bathing in all of this fame, thought of himself as superior; his pride was all he thought of. His brother looked up to him as he hasn’t met anyone or heard anyone as successful, intelligent, and prideful than his brother.
While his business was growing, others started to stray away, no one liked his cocky and prideful personality which caused many partnerships to stray away from Vesdino. Oswald despised the fact no one wanted to cooperate with him and decided to go make contracts with others himself. When showing up to another big company, Sony, he demanded that they see him for a business proposal. This wasn’t the first, as Sony had declined him many times not wanting to associate with him. Tired of Oswald’s pettiness, they decided to make a contract that no one would take so that Oswald would leave. Given the contract, Oswald’s brain went blank and signed it without taking a read. The representative at Sony, astonished by the fact that he signed it, chuckled and called him crazy. Oswald’s brain, after that comment, looked back over the contract and saw it said to give 65 percent equity of the company for a 10 year partnership.
Oswald fell on the ground speechless about what he had just done; he didn’t know what to do. Losing most of his business, Oswald went down in a deep hole of depression and was made a fool of when the contract reached the news. His brother was furious with what he had done and thought his brother was a smart person, but that is no longer the case. His brother left to try and go to negotiate, leaving Oswald thinking about what he had just done.
