“I’m sure that like most of the students arriving in NYUDC for the first time, I was worried about how we would make the most out of our time. How would we earn those As in classes, while expanding our network to gain a foothold in desired job sectors? How would we keep up with our internship, while trying to involve ourselves in as many events as possible? I was so nervous, wracking my brain over my fears of failing to capitalize on NYUDC, that I completely forgot the point of why NYUDC is a unique experience. Welcome Week gave me one week, seven days, to remind myself that there are others like me; full of hopes and expectations, we came here to connect with each other and realize that there is a passionate, human face behind the cold exterior of DC, that behind the politics are a group of people that are inspired to make this world better than they found it. Reminding myself that, through the numerous trips and connections that I enjoyed during Welcome Week, helped reassure me that I wasn’t just prepared for DC; I was ready to fit right in.”
