WITH THE SEA: CLIMATE ART, SCIENCE, AND HUMAN CONNECTIONS TO SEA LEVEL RISE
Join the Climate Museum for a panel discussion examining Sarah Cameron Sunde’s 36.5 / A Durational Performance with the Sea (2013-present). In this site-specific, iterative series of participatory artworks, the artist invites community members to join her as she stands in ocean water for a full tidal cycle of 12-13 hours, as water engulfs her body and then recedes. The scents of the WetLab, including those of sacred fungi and healing tinctures concocted from disappearing landscapes, emanated from the soft glow of the building's front door, beckoning visitors to explore the gallery for the last time. A soft amber light broke through the looming storm clouds as visitors settled into their seats under the shade of a large tree adjacent to the WetLab’s porch.
