As I prepare to head off for the summer, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to travel back to Tel Aviv as an activist this time, rather than a visitor. Final details loom around me—completing my housing search, packing, and the myriad items to tick off my to-do list.
On Monday, June 1, I will fly towards a summer of known and unknown challenges and opportunities. I am bringing many questions: how can I be of greatest service? How can I take care of my own happiness while being in touch with the systemic violence that will surround me? What will my role be at Zochrot? I am also in the process of finding a small additional theatrical or film project. What will that entail?
Our human rights seminar this semester prepared me with an international context for the work I am doing, and I am very curious to see the relationship between my host organization and that language.
