A few thoughts in no particular order:
My mentor, Mara Mills, is phenomenal.
This sub minimum wage issue is absolutely a rights issue and not a moral issue. Basing things off of morals gets no where.
I should be studying for finals.
I have never in my life been more excited to do something than to create this seminar in August.
I miss deadlines a lot. This is bad and needs to be fixed immediately.
It makes me sad that one of the donors for this seminar is an incredible Zionist. Again with the lack of NFB intersectionality, but what are ya gonna do? How can you support that disabled people be treated equally when you believe that people of different ethnic backgrounds should be treated above the citizens whose land they stole through ethnic cleansing. I guess to him, rights are only violated if he is one of those being violated.
I’m pretty sure I do not follow the blog instructions. I hope that’s okay.
NYU’s radical film and lecture series group had an amazing disabilities studies panel a year ago. I am sad I missed it, but grateful for the technology of today that allows me to watch the YouTube video.
I really can not wait for this year’s national convention.
This grant gave me the opportunity to be the head coordinator for a sub minimum wage campaign for college students. The students submitting applications to attend seem so outstanding. Putting this together is the hardest thing I have ever done. The funders sponsoring this are great in that they have not been babysitting me at all. Myself, and a wonderful board of students, make all the decisions. I feel more mature doing this, than I had starting at NYU. We secured funding, booked speakers, sifting through student application forms, booked a venue after about three months of price shopping, and so much more. This is all a very intense ride. Writing about this makes me think of all the things I need to be doing.
So I’ll end this here.
