In my research, what represents a landmark is really the people themselves. In this map that I have submitted, we can clearly see the racial segregation that lawmakers have carefully cultivated to, in my opinion, create better marketization. The city of Newark is under a massive wave of gentrification. Many of the local buildings and empty spaces have been replaced with countless new buildings and businesses that most people can’t really afford these days. That is why I reiterate the fact that the most important and lasting things in the city are the collections of people themselves. In this map, we can see the segregation that separates individuals and how these boundaries create the landmarks that define peoples who live in Newark.
