The Ironbound, the official name for the eastward of Newark New Jersey, and the neighborhood in which the Newark Water Coalition holds its biggest distribution site was heralded in the early 1800s as former swamp land turned into an agricultural and industrial center by the dutch and german people. Deeper into the 1800s brought about a massive industrial boom for the ironbound, specifically in regard to infrastructure and transportation. Railways, factories, houses, shops, foundries, churches, and schools that would stand till today in 2022 were erected during this time. By the 1900s, the ironbound would be faced with a wave of Portuguese immigrants. This would set the stage for the current-day population. As of the 2000s, more and more Hispanic and Latin American populations would rise.
