The Documentary Group

The Documentary Group is an award-winning production company founded in 2006 by the core members of Peter Jennings’ producing team at ABC News. TDG produces non-fiction series, theatrical documentaries, and TV specials based on a very simple principle: have faith in the intelligence, taste, curiosity, and integrity of the audience. Recent films include the Academy Award-nominated Cartel Land (Winner of 3 Emmy’s, including Exceptional Documentary Film-making as well as Best Director and Best Cinematography at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival), When Lambs Become Lions (Best Editing, 2018 Tribeca Film Festival), and the documentary and ongoing social action campaign Girl Rising. Other projects include We Will Rise: Michelle Obama’s Mission to Educate Girls Around the World (CNN’s highest-rated Original Film) as well as the limited series The Age of Aerospace (Discovery, Science), America in Primetime (PBS, MSNBC), Invisible Killers (Discovery), a forthcoming six-part series for Netflix, and a number of projects in production and development with a roster of premium networks and distributors. The Doc Group’s programs have won numerous honors, including the DuPont, Peabody, Emmy, Gabriel and Polk awards.
