New Collaborations with the College of Integrative Studies at Singapore Management University

By Mehmet Darakçıoğlu

After an inspiring visit by NYU Gallatin faculty to the College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) in February 2024, the Gallatin Office of Global Programs is thrilled to announce exciting new collaborations with CIS. Founded in 2022 and influenced by Gallatin’s individualized education model, CIS shares our passion for interdisciplinary learning and innovation.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s ahead:

  • Spring 2025: Gallatin will host a delegation of CIS faculty for a two-day visit in March 2025 to deepen conversations about interdisciplinary and individualized education. This visit will foster connections between CIS faculty and Gallatin’s vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Summer 2025: Gallatin faculty member Kwami Coleman and CIS faculty will co-teach an engaging summer course, Music And…, from May 5 to June 2, 2025. The course will use music as a dynamic lens to examine themes like identity, public culture, indigeneity, power, and politics.
  • Spring 2026: Launching the Gallatin-CIS Exchange Program! Up to three Gallatin students can study at CIS for a semester, and Gallatin will welcome three CIS students in return.
  • Summer 2026: Gallatin and CIS will co-host a joint symposium in New York, building on the success of Imperial Failures: Nature & Empire Deconstructed, the first Gallatin-CIS symposium held this past August.

These collaborations mark an exciting chapter for Gallatin’s global initiatives, strengthening our commitment to connecting communities and exploring new educational frontiers.
