Faculty Development Opportunity – Getting Started with Generative AI Course

Generative AI continues to fill headlines and occupy conference agendas and, although the landscape of education continuously evolves, the impact of generative AI seems to be causing a particular shock for institutions.

In an effort to provide faculty with the foundational knowledge they need to begin exploring the limitations and possibilities of such tools in their classrooms, the Arts & Science Office of Educational Technology is excited to offer the Getting Started with Generative AI for Instructors course in Brightspace. This independent, asynchronous course is segmented in 5 brief, daily lessons that can be completed in 30 minutes or less. The goals of this course are to provide instructors with a basic understanding of how generative AI works, including demonstrations and step by step instructions for accessing and using a generative AI tool. In addition, participants will consider the ways generative AI impacts higher education and the learning and classroom experiences of students. Finally, instructors will have the opportunity to reflect on how this issue impacts their work as facilitators of learning.

To find and self-enroll in this course, visit the Discover tab from the Brightspace homepage.
